‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ Officially Released on 4K / Blu-Ray First Time

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has set a release date for the new home release of I Know What You Did Last Summer. Originally released in 1997, the horror film will be released on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD on Sept. 27, 2022. This will mark the 4K debut of the movie and with the new release comes some exclusive bonus features, including a slew of deleted scenes. On that date, participating digital platforms will have the film available in 4K HDR along with 4K HDR debuts of the sequels I Still Know What You Did Last Summer and I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer.

That first film was directed by Jim Gillespie and written by Kevin Williamson, based on the novel by Lois Duncan. It was produced by Neal H. Moritz, Erik Feig, and Stokely Chaffin and executive produced by William S. Beasley. It stars Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillipe, Freddie Prinze Jr., Johnny Galecki, and Bridgette Wilson.

The movie wound up spawning two sequels, though neither was quite as well received as that first movie. More recently, Amazon rolled the dice again with I Know What You Did Last Summer by reimagining the story as a series, though it was canceled after only one season. Most horror fans seem to prefer that first movie adaptation that was released in 1997.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a special edition Blu-ray or 4K Ultra HD release without some nifty bonus features to come along with it. The chance to watch the movie in 4K resolution is certainly nice for fans, though there are also new deleted scenes and an alternate ending.
